Typhoon Nona whose “eye” landed squarely in Northern Samar during the third week of December 2015 did a lot of damage in the province. 40 people died, many homes were lost and agriculture took a big hit. The St. Benedictine Convent within the St. Scholastica’s Mission Hospital grounds lost a major portion of its roof. Thankfully, the Hospital itself withstood the cyclone with only minor damage around its foundation.
Therefore, the planned inauguration of the Hospital will go on as scheduled in the third weekend of February 2016. The dental clinic being build within the premises will open as well on the same week.
The Dentistry for Every Village Foundation, Inc., raises funds by seeking grants and donations to build dental clinics. These clinics are donated to health care institutions that have the resources to house the facility, experiences and expertise to run them efficiently, and whose management is supportive of the cause.
